LOST £3000 with EandL insurance!!!

Options
Hello everyone, have problem with this known insurance company and would like to know if someone had similar cases and what to do.
I insured my dog(bulldog) puppy with them, but few days before insurance started we been to vets for check up and they suspected some possible problem with eyes(eyelashes). After few months we had operation done because of dogs wrinkles, and tears coming down. However, these two conditions wasnt the same. Now EandL refuses to pay and say these conditions are connected. They refuse to pay all the fees, connected to eyes, face skin. Its absolutely embarrasing as we had premium diamond insurance, and havent received any of the 6 claims. We heard about them not paying very often, but didnt expect this.
Any advice is appreciated. We are planning to go to small claims court, and contact ombudsman. Kind regards

Surely if you'd been to the vets before starting the insurance the they diagnosed a problem it would be a pre-existing condition so probably wouldn't cover it?

Who says they arent the same? The vet? You? Get a vet to write the differences. Submit to insurance company. Sue them if they dont pay up.

I have found this with a uick google which suggests they MIGHT be connected in that the wrinkles can cause the eyelash to point inwards and irritate the eye. As the previous poster mentioned it would be best to seek the advice of your vet as to whether they are connected, if in his / her OPINION they are not connected ask them to confirm this in writing and try using this for your arguement.

Pet Insurance excludes existing conditions so if the conditions are connected then they can decline to pay your claim. If you had taken cover out before the operation for the eyelashes and E&L had paid the claim for the eye lashes then they would probably have covered the later problems.

I have had a quick look at the E&L policy and surprisingly it does not exclude genetic problems eg German Shepherds with their hips which some of the cheaper companies exclude.

    COMMON MEDICAL PROBLEMS

Skin Wrinkle Infections (skin fold pyoderma)

Skin wrinkles and folds provide an ideal location for the growth of bacteria.

This infection can be found as tail-fold pyoderma in bulldogs (screw tails). The usual signs are irritation and inflammation of the skin, causing discomfort to
the dog and "scooting." The moist skin becomes infected and gives off a foul odor. Relief is obtained by bathing the skin with a surgical soap, being sure to
thoroughly clean the skin under the tail. This may entail using your finger with a washcloth saturated in the surgical soap and inserting behind the screws of
the tail to the skin underneath. It may be painful to the dog, so care must be taken. Once cleaned, rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue and dry as
much as possible.Bulldogs are prone to wrinkle infections on their faces, particularly under the nose wrinkle. As a grooming device, clean the wrinkles
regularly (daily is recommended). The wrinkle and fold under the dog's eyes may also be a source of infection and/or discoloration (rust). This is normally
caused by tearing of the eyes or even eyelashes which grow inward (entropion). Left untreated, this can lead to eye ulcerations and dry eye. Keeping that area
as dry as possible is essential to avoid this problem.DO NOT GET MEDICATION INTO THE EYES!
