Hello Girls
Like it says in the title I'm looking for your advice and recommendations on good sports bras.
After a light bulb moment I have recently started to get my health in order, by losing weight and getting fitter. The eating side of things is sorted and now I really need to start getting more active. I am planning to take up yoga and/or the gym and once I get my confidence I want to give running a go. So far so good but the problem is I have big boobs 38E  (although that could decrease) so I can't do anything until I get some er.... firm support. It's been a while since I bought sports bras, so I am a bit clueless. Some of the ones that are around nowadays look like straight jackets.
Anybody have any suggestions or recommendations?
Oh, and I have (very very minor) spinal problems which mean I can't put my arms straight up above my head, so it must be easy to get off and on, preferable with a hook and eye clasp. Ta

Freya make some good sports bras in big sizes, I have one very similar to this in last season's style- http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/sports-bras/freya/full-cup-bras/fyj3-details.aspx?colour=BlackOwing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.

Thanks kris.
That's actually a really good website for clothes as well as underwear.0 -
i am a 36 f and i have bought a high impact sports bra from primark which was £6. it might not be amazing for something like running because there is some movement but for things like areobics and going to the gym like i do then it does the job. I can't justify the high price tag of something like a shock absorber brand bra which would probably totally eliminate chest bounce so this is the best alternative i can find. hope this helps0

I have tried a few sports bra's including shock absorber and the best one I have found by far is the Enell. It isn't cheap at about £40 and does look awe inspiring but it really does work and I can now run without really being aware of my chest which is great.
It hooks and eyes at the front so is not too bad for getting on.

I'm a 36DD/E and I buy all my sports bras from Asda or Tesco. I don't know how they are for running, but for the gym and cycling they are fine.0

hi i too am shopping around for a sports bra - as i too am trying to get fit. not going to sign up to gym though am buying few workout dvds (i enjoy the dance/aerobics stuff), on ebay and checking some out from library.
so far i have seen, BHS do some for around £16 - catagorised into high/low impact. M&S have some about £18 - straight jacket and clasp type; Sainsburys had a simple type for £5; Sports World had some i think they were about £10 JJB do from £28- problem is i haven';t actually tried any on yet so can't say if these do the job.
but hth a bit0 -
I have got this one, it's really comfortable and very supportive. Easy to put on as it just zips up at the front and you can just wear it as a crop top too. Sizes up to 38E.

I just tend to go to M&S. I've gone up and down in sizes over the years, but their sports bras have always worked well for me.0

I wear a 36dd and buy Nike/Adidas sports tops in a size smaller than is comfortable, I find they stretch when worn so if you get the comfortable size they'll eventually become too big. I also wear the stretchy supportive gym tops over the top which holds things a little firmer :rotfl:I've picked up a few on eBay (new!) for less than a fiver :j Oh and also, I run a lot, same method, sports bra then a supportive sports top, and have no problemsBaby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0

I second the vote for Enell. I've struggled to be comfortable when exercising for years and found that the supermarket/primark cheapies just don't cut it. In the last four years I have had the same Enell bra and it is in exactly the same condition today as it was when I first bought it. Also, as they don't have cups as such if you change a little in size it doesn't matter - i've fluctuated between a 40DD and a 44F and its remained supportive and comfortable. A good investment!0
