I stubbed my toe on the coffee table last week - I'll never buy another table...
Are there many other stories of stubbed toes on coffee tables on t'internet?

No one comes back from a holiday and thinks "oh I must log onto TripAdviser and tell everyone how wonderful it was".

Yet if they had an awful time, they are the first to complain...

Good for them, it gives others an insight in to what to expect, or more importantly, what to avoid.

You seem to condone poor service from these companies and it seems that you would prefer that they didn't get the exposure, that in most cases is justified.

Possibly not, however I frequently " sing the praises " of companies that treat me fairly, equally I am quite happy to report on companies that do not.

me and my mate hired a luton type iveco van from europcar, well they cross hired it from national, we went round the van,the woman noted all the damage she saw and then we also gave her a list the legth of her arm on extra damage we saw, both inside and outside the van,we took the van and used it then took it back a few days later with no extra damage, and that was that,we were never charged for anything extra and we were refunded the full deposit.

so theres a kind of good story, but always always always check the vehicle and dont not mention a blatant mark or ding just because they didnt mention it,they didnt mention it because they want to charge you for it later on.

  • i rented a car from europcar in penzance recently-i took it back showing full on the fuel guage-a week later they charged me £12.21 fuel charge as it wasnt full to the top! im unsure about my rights in relation to this-i thought my responsibility was to bring it back showing full on the dial which i did...the guy must have took hours dripping in as much fuel extra that he could and then charge it out at £2 a litre...can anyone advise me?

After getting back from Dublin back in August, and completely settling our account (with paperwork to prove it - all signed off etc) imagine our surprise when in September they took two separate amounts off our credit card for no known reason at all.. their excuse? Dublin is a franchise and they have no access to their account system so I would have to send in my statement... hence long wait whilst I rack up charges from my Bank. Finally I speak to VISA and told them what happened and they agreed to refund me everything and will charge it back to Europcar.
What Europcar do now is tell you to bring the car back empty so they can charge you their overinflated amount for fuel. Don't - ALWAYS return it FULL and make sure they sign it off when returning the car.:T

Several people, including myself have given details of our " hands on " bad experiences with Europcar, yet you seem to be defending them, we can't all have been wrong.

You are generalising from a few particular instances, which is false logic. You don't have to be wrong - but to say four (or whatever) people have had bad experiences, THEREFORE everyone will have a bad experience just doesn't follow.
