Claiming bank charges on little used account

Hi,
I'd like to put a claim into HSBC to have bank charges refunded as I'm really struggling financially, but it's a bank account that I've used very little since I've had it (about 10 years). I've had charges for bounced direct debits over the last 5 or 6 years but worry that because I've never had my salary paid into it (I've put small amounts to cover bills but because it was a secondary account I wasn't very good at it at times). Assuming the whole bank charges case is resolved do you think this would effect any decision or would they say as I've never put my salary in it's tough?
Thanks for any help

Put your claim in for the charges, I do doubt that they will payout on hardship if it is not your main account.0
