Free Paint shop pro/ photoshop......

Hiya, my Boyfriend wants to make some football emblems for a thing he does but all we have is paint and you cant do much to give that professional look on there. Now i don't know a lot about these things, but have heard some talk about paint shop pro, photoshop, or gimp. Now we would like ideally a free one, but don't mind paying - a bit - IF we have to, but free is always better! :D
But don't know if there's any for this purpose: making designs/ footy emblems, other designs, and also is there one that would do more to photos than just fix red eye, i mean some photos i have of people i would just like to clean up and air brush a lot! haha.

If anyone can understand my ramblings then you're great!
Any help would be very gratefully received!

Thank you in advance!

Maria. x

I'm not sure exactly what it is you need, so I've listed everything I could think of. :)

Raster: Vector: Desktop Publishing: The GIMP is something like Photoshop in that it can do many of the same things, but if it's just a more capable version of Microsoft Paint you're after then Paint.NET would probably suffice. The others are a little more... specialised.

    hi maria

gimp & paintshop pro both do the same thing they just have different layouts to use them
gimp is free and paintshop pro you can usually get free for about a months trial.
photoshop is a more sophisticated program and isnt available free i think its around £250 upwards depending on what edition you get.
I've used Paint Shop Pro i found it quite easy Gimp took a little more getting used to but its all a personal thing

    hope that helps..?
