Protected No Claims??????

I was wondering if anyone knew how this really works, I have a whole 9 years, protected, and have just had a 50/50 fault claim, however my renewal has gone up by £150 due to this claim, I thought the whole point of paying out to protect your no claims bonus prevented this from happening, my insurance company says no!! I am really silly thinking it should have done or have I not read the small print? Please help I am confused.com!

Protecting your NCB is exacty that, it protects your NCB in the event of a claim. It doesn't protect you against premium rises.
My advice is to shop around at renewal. I had a 100% fault claim in 2006 and as we expected the renewal shot up. I shopped around and got a better price with another co than what we had paid before the accident.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
As shelley says, it protects your discount. It does not stop your premium rising as a result of the accident.
Best advice is to shop around.0 -
Thompsoj did you start with this Insurance company last year by any chance? I say this as if you did the price would probably have gone up anyway as the first year you tend to get a "New Customer" price and then at renewal the price goes up.
This may explain some of the increase as £150 is a lot for the premium to go up unless you have a very large premium.
Also bear in mind Insurance prices are creaping up at the moment.
Do as the other posters have mentioned and have a shop around0
