Been made redundant today, was told on 10/06/09 about the possibilities of reduncancy (two people one job)meeting about redundancy procedure 12/06/09, made redundant today 15/06/09. Is this too short a time for consultancy period and what shoul i do now.
Appeal to senior management of College (whom i believe made the final decision not my line manager) or is there no case to answer?:eek::eek:
Ps Asked when i could finish without losing my payment in lieu of notice and finished at end of day. hope they stick to this.

Hi Lormac, I am so sorry. I was made redundant in May. It is an awful experience, but please don't take it personally. I wouldn't even bother to appeal. You can bet that their lawyers have looked into every nook and cranny.
If you can afford to, take a month off. I did that and found it was the best thing I could do for myself. Gave me time to 'heal', lick my wounds and spend time taking my child to school etc. I really enjoyed it. I started a temping assignment today and feel quite 'free', even though I have taken a huge drop in salary. Good luck.0 -
If they're only making a couple of peeople redundant this is OK. My place have made 3 of a team of six redundant and completed the process in basically a week. Our first meeting was basically an interview, when I assumed they'd just run through the process and my union can't find fault with it.
If you have no idea how they've decided you're the redundant one I'd appeal. You should be able to get an understanding of what has happened and why as it makes it easier to accept.0 -
I would be ok with it if it wasnt the fact that my contract stated i was chef trainer and the person who got the job contract stated that they were employed as kitchen assistant, which inturn meant that 90%of the students were taught and assessed by me. So in turn I feel I am more qualified for the job.0
