Hi,
Not sure where you are in UK or how old you are but a 25 year old in this part of Scotland qualifies for Local Housing Allowance of up to £499.98 per month. I know it's lower if you're under 25 without dependents but not to the tune of £300 less.
As you're paying council tax I assume you're in a flat and not sharing. Is there an option to take in a lodger even for a short period. Rent a room scheme allows you to make up of £4000 plus per year which you don't have to declare for tax.
Based on the SOA you posted even worse case scenario they give you £200 per month HB that still gives you approx £100 per month to put towards your debts. That's with a roof over your head. Would that buy you a breathing space until you find a job?
Hope some of this helps.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
I'm 23 so as i understand it only eligible for -
JSA (contributions based) - £50.95 per week until December when goes onto income based.
Council tax - don't have to pay if earning nothing getting JSA and local housing benefit/allowance. Awaiting decision.
Housing benefit/local housing allowance at under 25 shared room rate which in my area is £50.95 a week. Awaiting decision.
This gives me an income of approx £441 per month. This would give me less than £100 after rent per month.
- Approx £25 for utilites gas £5, water £13.33 and electric £5
- Say £40 for food etc
- Min payments currently £30
This isn't possible!
One bed place so having someone move in not really a possibility, single at mo, even if landlady agreed.Halifax £744 and coming down

Correction applicible lha rate is £57.69 per week, so slightly better. Giving me £249.99 a month plus £220.78 jsa. Total income £470.77, which is more managable. Still original problem of bills due and no way to pay though. Just wanna say thanks for all the suggestions and advice so far. Think i could work a managable budget if i wasn't waiting on any actual money coming in and current no cash crisis. Think am gonna have to move out, don't see anyway round it as will be forced to any way as behind with no way to catch up.Halifax £744 and coming down

Pot challenge is a really good idea!
Yes i wanted to pay back parents as a priority too but sofar they have refused any payments (this was when i was working). Though really can't help me out any more than already have. Methinks i'll eventually have to smuggle it back into their account somehow when things are better.
Thanks i'm glad i found this site and really appreciate the support. Hopefully i will get some money coming in soon. More cv's and applications to do tom.Halifax £744 and coming down
