what price for a fantastic view?

I've seen a house I like (see my earlier thread with more details on it here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=22473001&highlight=#post22473001 ).

We put in a low offer (based partly on other local sold prices) and this has been rejected on the grounds that 'the view alone makes it worth 30K more than similar properties'. I must admit the views out the back are stunning - open fields over rolling countryside as far as the eye can see. But the front is nothing special... a road full of LA and exLA properties. What price would you give for stunning views?

    I would pay more for great views, possibly as much as £30k, depending on the price of the property. I think they say seaviews add as much as 30%.

    If it's not worth it to you, then fair enough move on. Like all purchases, it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay. ;)

    What about in a few years when they it's a huge housing estate,, where's the £30k then...

    In the village we're looking at, properties overlooking the waterfront (it's an estuary, lots of wildlife and little boats, fields and another village on the opposite side) go on the market around £50k more (almost 20%) than ones a couple of roads back.

    My mum's an insurance underwriter, checked the database, and found they're in the high risk flood area so insurance will be a nightmare. Still doesn't stop people buying them and paying a premium. I'd love to live there but having lived in a house that was flooded once, I'd be too scared of it happening. :(
