Eariler I posted a thread in the DFW board and was advised to ask on here.
I currently have a loan with LTSB that was taken out in February 2006. We were told that we had to take out PPI as 'the finance department wouldn't approve the loan for that amount without the PPI'. We were also not made aware of the fact that we were actually borrowing the PPI money and paying interest on top.
A year into the loan out circumstrances changed and we had to enter a debt managemnt plan with the CCCS. At this time we requested that they cancel the PPI due to the advice of the CCCS. To date LTSB has refused to do so. Replying to letters sent as 'they no longer deal with this but will pass it on to the department that does' and we hear nothing more. During phonecalls it is promised thet the PPI will be cancelled and written confirmation sent in 15 working days (This never happens).
We recently found out we could claim back our PPI due to the mis-selling and attempted to do it ourselves with the template letters from this site. Lloyds wrote back saying it was our tough luck because even if we weren't aware we signed the paper work. We have resently instructed solicitors on a no win no fee basis to claim for us.
Since this LLoyds have sent information for what they called a refinace loan to consolidate our 16K loan and 3K credit card, seemingly wiping off 4K from our debt. This 4K happens to be the outstanding balance of the PPI. I have ignored the offer, but today I have recieved another letter about the offer asking me the sign and send back the paper work. However in this letter they are calling it an Insurance Rebate Loan.
Members on the DFW board have advised that I look on the OFT fro information on PPI and send a formal letter of complaint to Lloyds copying to OFT. However I have no idea what I am looking for on the OFT website no do I know what to say in the complaint letter or whether I should be quoting something in the letter.
Any help would be most gratefully received.

Hi there
Good luck with this.
In regards of the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) here are some details here
http://www.oft.gov.uk/advice_and_resources/resource_base/legal/competition-act-1998/complaints
However, maybe someone can confirm, but not sure if they can actually deal with these type of complaints.
Its it information you require, I have come across this here:
http://www.oft.gov.uk/advice_and_resources/resource_base/super-complaints/insurance
from the OFT site.
How far are have you gone with the solicitor with this matter?
Are they able to deal with these issues your currently going through right now in regards of the rebate of the PPI?The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I was going to state if you decide to want to do this yourself, there is help here in regards of reclaiming PPI with templates etc.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0

We signed the paper work last Wednesday and we were told that they would contact us in the next few days for further details. Nothing as of yet. However another firm of solicitors refused to deal with us because we were on a DMP and they stated that Lloyds could take any settlement and use it to pay off against our loan.
The firm we're dealing with told us that was nonsense and they could simply request Lloyds pay the settlement into another account. So I am now really confused. We have been trying for nearly 2 years to get them to remove the PPI. But I just either get ignored or shuttlecocked back and forth between departments.
Thanks for the link I shall have a ganders now!0 -

We did do it ourselves about 3-4 months back, but they sent a load of signed paper work and lots of legal stuff and to be honest I pooped myself and gave up :rolleyes:0 -

Hi hun
Well I do hope this is sorted out for you, I did edit my above first post and added the link to information on the OFT site of PPI in case you missed it, so here it is here:
http://www.oft.gov.uk/advice_and_resources/resource_base/super-complaints/insurance.
As far as I am aware it makes no difference whatsoever if your on DMP, and you have a good case here, fingers crossed for you. XThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

They are not the easiest to deal with are they?
I have previously won a Credit card PPI case but not directly with Lloyds, it went as far as the FOS, hubby also won a case and has another ongoing, its taking time with his last one though.
We are here to try to help you through this anyway when you require this.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Thanks so much for your advice and the link.
Sometimes I get all fired up and get in a fight to the finish mindset and other times I just get so tired of fighting I just want it all to go away.
If we don't hear back from the solicitors (they said there wasn't a guarantee they would take the case on) is it worth trying again ourselves even though we got a NO response the last time?0 -

Yes I know what you mean, it can get a bit too much can it?
Of course we are here to help you through the reclaiming, so please keep us posted. Cheers XThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0
