Which bank account?

I am looking to leave my current bank nat west (been having quite a few problems with them!)
I have a basic Halifax account with visa electron which i have used before but then went to Halifax after they had charged me silly money money for going unauthorized overdrawn. i did however claim these charges back. not sure whether to go back to them.
I also have a co-op cash minder account which i haven't really used i have heard very mixed views on the co-op bank.
is there any good banks out there? i just need a basic account with solo or visa electron card.
Thank you in advance for any advice!

There are good banks out there but you need to learn to stay within the rules, if not you will gradually have less and less choice of bank.

Halifax are ok IMO - have never had any problems.
I have the Halifax reward current account and receive 5 pound per month (as i pay over 1000 into it). It is the only account out there that does this.
Just make sure you dont go overdrawn and there is no problem.

Alliance and leicester may be worth looking at, but I did not like them.

I like HSBC. Automated machines in branches so less waiting. Great Internet Banking. Only bad thing is foreign call centers for telephone banking.
