Advice for a Current Account!

Hi, can anyone give me any advice as to what are the best current accounts around?
i have banked with NatWest, Barclays and Nationwide and all have been awful, i now currently bank with HSBC, Lloyds and Co-op.
I am looking for a bank away from these, but one where i dont have to pay in a set amount of credit each month.
Halifax is one i am looking at because co-op and HSBC will be closed, but will it affect my credit score because i have had maybe 4 or 5 credit checks in 2009?
thanks for any help
(HSBC have given me a (all-Auth i believe it is visa debit which wont allow me to use it at petrol pumps ext, which i need because i dont carry cash on me)

don't wnat to start a huge argument but if you have been with eight bnks have you thought maybe you are expecting too much?0

No it's the fact i use each bank for something else, my lloyds account is for wages, my hsbc for my driving lessons/car, and co-op for savings to move out.
Its more the fact that apart from lloyds, they have all given me numerous problems that were not my doing. I havent ever gone overdrawn, had bounced checks/DD/SO and i make sure everything is well run, just get spoken to like dirt in my local branches!
That i won't accept im afraid
and its only 6 banks not 8

oops, so 6 accounts....
anyway, I would think it will affect your credit score and your credit file will show a total of how many credit searches in the last 6 months so if some of your checks where done near the start of the year then maybe worth waiting a month or 2 if you can to improve your chances.
Also look at the reward account if you pay in x amount each month you get £5 and you can do this by switching money to savings and back again.
hope this helps0 -
my phone contract was done in january, i think 2 in feb so if i wait a little i should be okay?
i may not even open a new one and just open an esaver with lloyds, was just wondering if halifax was worth me checking out or not!
thanks for your input willo
