Hope it turns out ok - I have done this with chicken breasts but no reason why a half or whole chicken shouldn't turn out well.

  • probably too late now but how about cooking the chicken & making a chicken & tomato lasagne & stir the boursin into a white sauce to top??

    Hi,

Really silly question I hope someone can answer for me.

I have never cooked a whole chicken, my OH used to be funny about chicken and would only eat breast meat. Now he has come shopping with me and has seen the price of it compared to whole chickens (esp the Aldi chickens, £2.99 at the moment). He's changed his mind and now I can give cooking one a go.

Do they need any preparation, other than taking them out of the packaging?

    Thank you

Nope just put it in a oven pan and drizzle a little olive oil and salt and pepper, any other herbs or garlic and bake,

Don't forget to cut the elastic string off that usually holds the wings/legs to the body. It can be difficult to see sometimes (husband nearly missed one last week!).

Don't often buy whole chickens - do they ever put packets of giblets in them like turkeys?
