First of all hello! I was made redundant 2 weeks ago and I am owed half a months wage from last month and a weeks pay from this month. Every time I ask the employer about payment the say in a few days and a few days never arrives. We were made redundant as they were not making enough money to pay us so I dont think they have the funds to pay what is owed. I am at a loss what to do -help!

Thanks

Have you had your redundancy pay?
You need to write and say you expect payment within 7 working days or you will begin proceedings through the ET service.
If they dont respond, then start proceedings.

  • Thanks for the answer. They owe me half a months wage from May and a weeks wage from June -this is not including any redundancy pay. I have worked for them for over 2 years just about so am I entitled to any redundancy pay and if so how much? To be honest I am not to fussed about getting any redundancy pay, I just want what they owe me from the hours I have worked. I stopped by yesterday and they said they still dont have the funds to pay anybody. Shall I send a letter and ask for payment within 7 days or do I give them more time?

you need to be clear how long you worked for them if over 2 years then there is a redundancy payment of upto £700 or less if you earned below £350 per week

What were your start date and end date with notice?

No, don't give them more time - they are just hoping you will go away.

You need to write to them and give them a hard deadline for them to pay the money owed + the redundancy pay (this is also owed if you have been there more than two years - the employer HAS to pay this to you) You can work the redundancy pay owed on the yougov website

Agree with fengirl - they are hoping you give up. Don't.
