i've got to defend the mother a bit here, it's impossible to watch two 4 year olds constantly and a litter of pup's and kids have a knack of getting into trouble in zero seconds. Also the child wouldn't have meant to harm the pup,

Would you have said that if the dog had been a bit older and attacked the 4 year old?

Ahhh but if the puppy had been a bit older and had "attacked" the child in the same situation it would actually have been defending itself. I wonder what would have happened to the animal then.

but the dog didn't attack the child, this is completely out of context, god the mother was probably just as mortified over it all i'm saying is that you can't watch over twins all the time, be totally impossible. At end of day it was a toddler be totally different if child had been older.
:Sometime I try to be NORMAL. . . But it gets boring so I go back to being me. . .

I totally agree with you. Therefore, the idiot parents should have thought about this before breeding their dog.

If the pups' mother had snapped at the kid for taking one of her pups I daresay the parents would blame the dog...

yes, you are right - shame the mother of the four year olds never considered this very pertinent point before deciding to breed her dog!

I know of someone whose dog came from a home like this, where the children were allowed to rag the pup around like toys - the dog is about four now and cannot be trusted around children as she is absolutely terrified of them.

Probably not a good time to tell the story of my eldest daughter when she was about 3, a whelly boot and our pet guinea pig then....

Yeah, I was thinking too... not a good time to tell the story one of my teachers told me about when she was little and had kittens...

You could make sure the pups are protected by installing a stair gate or something like whereby the kids could not get at the pups in the firstplace.

I do agree its not the kids fault though although I am trying to think back to when mine were that age and I would certainly like to think that my kids would have known better even at that age.
