HSBC what can I claim?

My girlfriend had a bank account, loan and credit card with HSBC before we got together, anyway she has been paying these off via DG Solicitors, now as I am a keen user of this site I know bits and bobs and certainly know not to go down without a fight.
So I asked my girlfriend to get the statements for these accounts, at present I have the statements for the bank account, I have gone through them and noticed a lot of things such as "loan protection" "total charges for the month" and "interest" coming out of the account. I know that I can claim charges and I'm just reading the thread about Payment protection.
The account is from 2003-2005, I was hoping some wise soul would be able to advise me on this.

Many thanks.

OK I have looked through and I am claiming the charges and the payment protection.
Just to clarify, when I asked if I could claim interest I didn't mean on the charges, I meant that on the statements it says things such as "total charges" which I have calculated but then a few entries later it says "interest" - it is this interest that I am curious about.

thanks and sorry for the confusion.

  • You can claim interest on the charges but the interest maybe for a legitimate overdraft. Was there an overdraft on the account during this period?
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • no there was no overdraft facility available to me.

On a second point seeing as you are Natest knowledgable, I am trying to get them to send me my SAR but they keep asking for signature, is this legit?
