Unaddressed mail opt-out not working

I asked Royal Mail for a form to opt-out of unaddressed mail in November 2008. I filled it out and sent it back as soon as I got it.
I know it takes a few weeks to take effect, but I'm still receiving unaddressed mail several months after it should have taken effect.
Who do I need to contact in order to find out if my request's in place?

Contact your local sorting office although you might be better off sending in your form again its a manual system they use i.e. they put a note in the box so its noticed when the postman sorts it.
If its a rural community you have a far better chance of it been actioned than if you live in London where they have lots of temporary staff . That's what my postman told me
This is also only for the advertising leaflets that they put through your box. If its addressed even "to the Occupier" it gets delivered
If you wish to opt out of receiving Door to Door mail items, please send or email your name and address to the address below:

That's why all junk mail peddlers now address everything to 'The Occupier'.
Also, much of this type of junk mail get delivered with your local free paper to bypass this system.
Royal Mail deliver this junk because it makes them money. What I suggest is that you cancel this moneymaking out by collecting the junk mail up and putting it back in your nearest Post Box for recycling.
Royal Mail can then decide whether to recycle or return to the originator of the junk.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
