Need recommendation - cheap but good online conveyancing

My Daughter and boyfriend are buying their first house and are looking for conveyancing, I know there is a myriad of online cheap conveyancing services but I can't seem to find reviews for a lot of them . Can anyone recommend one that they have used ?

Thanks

Jim

  • Whatever you do, READ all their small print and terms and conditions. If they are dense, impenetrable, and difficult to read doesn't that put you off?

Some of them have lots of extras that are hidden away to look like optional or rarely used extras, but which in fact are actually virtually standard. For instance, some firms charge more for completing in less than 3 weeks from exchange of contracts, when 1-2 weeks is the norm!

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
  • Do not touch an online conveyancer!!

Cheap is always bad when it comes to conveyancing, it is one of the largest purchases we make, so why take the risk??

A highly recommended solicitor is invaluable to ensure that you have good title, no building regs and final inspection issues and no problems when you come to sell on.

There are loads of firms out there paying estate agents for work!!

I can recommend someone who ticks all of the boxes, up to you if you call them ar not, but absolutely fantastic service and wealth of knowledge, and with conveyancing location does not really matter

  • itmakessense makes sense. With conveyancing, you often get what you pay for. In my experience, most online conveyancers do not allocate your file to a speicifc person which can only lead to frustration as they are learning everything from new everytime you call.

Word of Mouth is the best way to find a decent solicitor.
