Little kids and little cash

Well, it seems like everyone I know has been having a wonderful time in all sorts of places reached by Ryanair/Easyjet. I'm feeling distinctly sorry for myself as the only foreign country I've made it to lately was Wales! (though I do love Wales).

Having a two and four year old, and a DH with a low tolerance for uncertainty I'm not sure I can be successful at the whole travelling thing, but I really, really want to give it a try.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions...where can we all go that's cheap and kid friendly, and that'll stop me feeling so inadeqaute when watching tv shows about people moving to Europe!

Hi...to be honest, I've not thought much about any concrete details. I'd like to do something that didn't cost more than a hundred quid each...coz I don't really have any kind of budget for holidays.

For that kind of money, I'm only looking for a couple of nights...but I don't know if you can do citybreak things that are good for toddlers. I read an article once about things to do with kids in Amsterdam - but I can't remember any of them

Sorry I'm vague...kids aren't in school so no time constraints either!

You can fly from Liverpool to Girona with Ryanair from Sun 7 May coming back Thurs 11 May. for £49.40 each TOTAL £173.60 (for 4)MAX 10KG hand luggage each (£2.50ppEW for extra 20KG each hold luggage if prebooked online)

Find-rooms have Quintasol apts for as little as £51 TOTAL (NOT PP) in Malgrat (right on the beach!)

You could also stay in Girona,Barcelona,Callela,Lloret de Mar,Santa Susana etc

My new Unofficial ryanair destination guide to Girona has lots of info, including airport transfers, local bus info, resort and city info.

Go camping in a tent with Keycamp, Haven, Canvas. Eurocamp also do tenst but is more expensive. Ideal for families. We're going for a 6th time in May in a caravan in France for 3 weeks for £680 - tents quite abit cheaper. We love it.

we are doing 4 nights to france with eurocamp from june 7th staying in midi accom with decking for £271 which includes ferry crossings

we are taking lots of our own food / meals so dont have to shell out too much when we get there

also as you have the car it means you can take lots to keep the kids occupied :)

also taking our own bedding so dont have to pay their prices

    HTH

there are destinations all over and as you arent restricted my school hols should find a good hol bargain : )
  • I agree with RachieB you can't go wrong with camping - out of the uk that is! Do u collect club card vouchers? if so check out the offers with frenchlife etc. as they are cheaper than keycamp.

There is a campsite about 20mins from Calais at Quines which is excellent for a 1st timer across the pond. My children love it there especially the pony rides.

If you can make it cheaper do so. If it's not reduced, in Primark, off ebay or free I can't have it

    Hiya,
i would recommend butlins, great for kids, clubs etc, and can be reasonably priced if u go in the low season, its always packed!
or the sun newspaper are starting their holidays from £15 per person tommorrow, plus they now do holidays to france italy etc
i find it hard too, i'm on my own with a 2 year old, so cant really afford much,
but i dont really want to take him abroad at this young age (too scared!) :o
so hopefully i will get to take him away soon! xx

    Good luck xx
