Anyone know how to make donner kebab meat?

Hello everyone :hello:

I've got a friend coming over tomorrow with her pregnant daughter. Her daughter has a bit of a craving for donner kebabs so I thought I'd have a go at making the meat myself. Do any of you know how to make it? I do have a spit roast thing so that's all good but other than that I'm a bit lost.

Can anyone help?

Thank you xx

  • i know one but its a slimming world recipe i'm not to keen on it but others love it
    DONER SPICED MEATLOAF

    Ingredients;
    1 lb minced lean lamb
    3 tsp dried mint
    2 tsp cumin powder
    1 tsp mint sauce OR 1 tbs chopped fresh mint
    1 tsp garlic granules OR 1-2 cloves crushed garlic
    1 tsp onion salt OR ½ a small onion minced
    ½ tsp sea salt
    Generous grind of black pepper

    Oven Temp: Moderately hot / 375F / 190 / Gas 5

    Method;
    Put everything in a food processor if you want it ground finely for a smoother texture or just mix it all very well by hand. If you don’t have a processor get the butcher to mince the meat twice or just knead the meat mixture with your hands until the texture smoothes out.

    Form into a rough loaf shape and place onto a rack stood in a baking pan. If the lamb is really lean you don’t need to do this. Bake in the middle of the oven for about an hour. It is quite a dense loaf so it must cook all the way thorough. I sometimes cook it in a loaf tin or shape into burgers and grill them.
  • collect up whatever roadkill is around on the streets, put through mincer with garbage out of the bin...done!

    You could try Kofte kebabs instead. They are made with lamb mince.

    Here is a random one from Google:

  • Slightly damp down some old cardboard, add spices of choice, mix with wilted salad, serve on two day old bread.

    I too could not resist it. My son brought one home once, it looked terrible.:eek:

    Hi Toto,

    When I make donner kebabs at home I make them with thinly sliced left over lamb or with marinated slices of lamb on the barbeque rather than the traditional kebab shop meat. You can add what herbs and spices you like but my favourite is mint with a garlic mayonaise.

    The more traditional (kebab shop) recipes use minced lamb with the herbs and spices mixed into the mince, then the meat is pressed into shape and grilled on a spit.

    If you have a look on google there are lots of links to recipes.
