European Breakdown Cover - Where To Get It? Going for 9 weeks in a 21 year old camper

Hi everyone
I'm going for a 9 week tour of Europe in two weeks time and need to sort out some type of breakdown cover
I have looked around and have found 2 main problems.
1) The majority of companies will only cover for a maximum of 30 days
2) The majority of companies will not cover anything over 15 years old.
Obviously I am breaking both of those rules as I will be gone for 65 days and my car is too old at 21!
Some companies will cover me, the cheapest so far is the AA at £166 which seems a lot to me (I was hoping to pay closer to £100)
Does anyone know of any company which will A) cover me and
be a bit more reasonably priced?
Any help/advice appreciated

Fear not, the answer is ADAC.
The German automobile association, for €79.50 you get an annual worldwide policy. I have just joined.
You want the Plus cover. Just fill in the application and fax it to the number or scan and save as pdf and email it to.

Agreed, don't use it in the UK or you may find like my friend that their car was dumped at a local dealership0 -
People that I know who used it in the UK haven't had that problem, AA is their UK partner.
From their website.
Your vehicle breaks down and needs to be recovered.
Your vehicle breaks down abroad.
We will organise recovery to your place of residence and cover the costs. In addition we cover towing and storage costs.
We will also provide this service, if your vehicle is found after a theft.
In Germany the ADAC pick-up service will help you, i.e. we will take you home together with your vehicle.I have a cunning plan!

These people look good but I have one problem, I can't speak German!
The website says that the initial form is in english but all correspondence thereafter will be in german, I assume this also means phone calls?
Also where it says we will tow you home, does that mean that they will tow us home to the uk?
Finally if I did join would all the documents arrive within 2 weeks?
Sorry for all the questions, im finding breakdown cover to be very confusing/frustrating!0 -

It's the first problem I've heard of, he was with another friend so left his car with the AA to be towed across the country and jumped in with his mate.
Next morning still no car but a dealer close to the breakdown called "hi, we've got your car via the AA".0 -

I can't speak German either. As far as I can see the policy states "We will recover you to your place of residence"
With regard to cover I had my membership number emailed to me by return along with a list of numbers by country. from people I have spoken to the call centre speaks english and I used alta vista to translate.
I joined on friday and leave for france next monday. Will update when I get docs through.I have a cunning plan!

This is interesting for me since I do speak German (studied it) and am looking for European cover.
If you need any help with anything in German drop me a message. Please note: I am NOT Martin Lewis, just somebody else called Martyn that likes money saving!0
