PayPal Email Quick Questions HELP HELP

Sold my first item ever on ebay yesterday & set up a Paypal account.

Had an email from the winner today saying he has paid through Paypal & also an email from paypal (SMTP:PAY-PALACCOUNTNOTIFIES@EMAILACCOUNT.COM).

Question 1: I know Paypal holds onto money for new people (ie me) but surely this would show up as money received on their website... I cant see it. Do you know where I can spot this transaction on the paypal website?

Question 2: The email address where it came from is From: service@paypal.com[SMTP:PAY-PALACCOUNTNOTIFIES@EMAILACCOUNT.COM]. To me that looks like a dodgy email account....

Question 3: Do I really have to send it before anything shows on the online account??

HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!!!

The email says:

"You've got new funds!

Dear 1984YouGorgeousBastad,

Michael ****** just sent you money with PayPal.

    It's a scam.

You haven't been paid and buyer has sent you a fake paypal email.

    Report buyer to ebay immediately.

Paypal don't hold funds subject to tracking details. If the hold funds it will show in your paypal account and will be held for 21 days or until buyer elaves feedback.

If it doesn't show in your paypal account you haven't been paid. This is a common but nasty scam as it gives you a sense of urgency which might make someone post out before really questioning the fact that they can't see the payment.

    (a) paypal always addresses you by your real name, not your ebay id
    (b) paypal have their own mail server - they don't use a third party such as emailaccount.com
    (c) you don't need to mail tracking info to a third party such as an anonymous mail.com email address.

Soolin is right, this is a scam. If the funds do not show in your account DO NOT SEND THE ITEM.

This is not even a new scam it is one of the oldest around, forward the email to spoof@paypal.com and ignore it.

    Don't post the item.
Tell the seller you will post the item when payment is received.
If not paid then file a Non Paying Bidder dispute.
If he pays (and you can see the money in Paypal balance), then ideally get a tracking code when posting or get proof of postage because they're clearly dodgy.

I wouldn't even bother telling the "buyer" you'll post when payment is received. They've already shown their true colours by attempting to scam you. Personally, I'd have no further interest in dealing with them. Wait until you are able then file a Non Paying Bidder dispute.

If they then paid, I'd refund them, as I wouldn't feel able to trust that they wouldn't try something else.
