Bathroom drainpipe smell?

hi folks
everynow and then theres an sewege like smell from the bathroom and im pretty sure its coming from the drainpipe in the middle of the bathroom...

any ideas what is causing this? do i need a plumber..?

Yes, I would say you would. It probably hasn't been plumbed correctly if it is coming from the pipe, and is missing a smell trap. We had the same problem with our dishwasher.

However, it would be important to consider that it might not be coming from a pipe, but that you might have a blocked or semi-blocked sewer, and it could be coming from the toilet. Lift the manhole cover of the sewer which the toilet is connected to and see if there are any blockages.

I'm guessing your bathroom is a wetroom or similar with a floor gulley, if it is the very first thing to do is to check that it is trapped and there is water in the trap, quite often with floor gulleys if they do not gert much water going down them the traps dry out allowing smells to pass, try pouring half a bucket of water down the gulley, and see if you can see water staying in the gulley
