Claim on credit card for wedding dress refund after shop goes bust

I am assuming that in reality you paid the retailer, who never paid the manufacturer ... so for you to get the dress, you need to pay the new store ....
We have been asked to pay again to get the dress by the dress shop that now has the dress. We have no idea whether or not the manufacturer has been paid.0 -

Well Ok .... I would suggest that you go back to the credit card company & ask why they want the information - as you say your contract is with the original retailer ....
But I suspect their answer will be similar to mine.

Exactly, so you don't know if the new shop is scamming you?? Can't you write to Venus and just get them to write a letter and confirm? Then you can have your money.I love surprises!0 -

They are not - they are actually helping us by supplying the dress at more or less cost price.
We have spoken to Venus Bridal. However getting this written statement is not proving easy at the moment as I need to get hold of the manager who is never in.
The point is that it is not my job to go after the manufacturer - if cc company want to do this that's up to them.0 -

Then go back to the card company - give them the Venus manager details & insist on your money back.

I have emailed the manager directly yesterday and will make one last phone call today. After that I will be following the advice I have been given here;
