How to protect my felt roof???

I've had a felt roof put down on my extension and was wondered if there was a way I could protect my felt roof from the elements. I've seen other felt rooms with some types of stones/chippings on them. Is it worth looking into this... My felt roof was quite expensive and want to protect it for as long as possible.

Your roofing contractor should allready have included this if he was any good .
However , as allways a simple Google search reveals plenty of solutions !

Bottom of first Google page is this
http://www.maguirebrothers.co.uk/products/felt.htm
Which gives a lot of good information !
A Google search is never 1 page, there are over 366,000 results for the search link I gave and you cannot find any relevant info ?0 -
Some of the new roof felts don't have stones on them apparently & are supposed to be more hardwearing than the old type. I'll be getting the roof covering of my extension done sometime this year & will be getting this new stuff fitted. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Yeah I got the new stuff fitted just want it to last longer than 10 years. I've got a massive extention 40ft odd so want the felt to last as long as possible.
Will be looking at adding while limestone chippings thats if I can find any locally at a good price, prevention is better than cure....
Even tho the felt might be better than years ago it's still a good idea to protect it if you can. When in Germany last year I discovered every one uses chippings and apperently the felt roofs over there last years due to the active protection of the chippings on the roofs as they reflect sunlight and help the evaporation process..0
