well, clearly there's something wrong, and it's a coincidence that a new meter's installed and suddenly I'm getting my bills qadrupled... BTW, d'you know what that fee is?
If your so adamant something is wrong get a check meter but it will cost about £70 for them to check.

One of our neighbours had the exactly the same. Turned out the new meter was being read incorrectly. The readings had been transposed, so the economy 7 useage was being billed as the day useage, and vice versa.
Check the readings, and check which reading increases in the day.

Maybe the reason you have a new meter was that the old was faulty and not correctly recording your usage. As Magentasue says, it does seem low.

As Vestra says, you can request the new one is checked for about £70/ They'll fit another one in line to check. If it proves your meter is faulty, you'll get the checking charge refunded.

I've just found out what the problem is. About an hour ago, I noticed the night units used were way less than the day ones - which should be the opposite with econ-7. I've just analysed it again, and just as Mikey 72 has pointed out, the meter readings have been transposed, with the day ones reading as the night as vice versa. So the installations guy had made one one hella mistake. How incompetent can you get.

but thanks everyone for your replies!!
