Hello,

i think i have made the stop in the yellow cross hatch blunder. I am going on holiday 2nd of july and was wondering by when should i expect the pictures from the dvla? if i receive it after the 2nd of july, then i wont be in a position to pay up within 14 days.
i suppose the payment can be made over the internet? no points for the offence, correct?

i have got myself to blame, partly my tomtom and the person in front of me. there was this straight ahead sign and my tomtom indicated go right and the driver in front as well waited middle of the cross hatch for a break in the oncoming traffic to turn right. then there was car behind us who knew that he had two idiots in front of me in the wrong.= and he was honking at us.

the traffic light turns red, the guy in front turns right, the guy behind me overtake me and goes straight and i realising the blunder go straight. i guess i dont have much of a case, what do you guys think

tomtom indicated two nice traffic cameras on the right and behind me.

soem one told me that if i dont receive the traffic violation ticket in say 3 weeks, then the ticket does not apply to me, is that right?

They have 14 days to get it sent out. Some caveats being lease cars etc.

Nope! Only if he had been stopped by the police. He wasn't.

    28 and same caveats.

    -but could come tomorrow!

Where was this? Lots of box junctions are legally flawed and documented and the actual rules are misinterpreted by Councils.

Which Council makes a huge difference. You could phone and ask if any penalties due on your VRM - but being fairly incompetent the answer may not be reliable.

I also strongly suggest you ask the board guide Crabman to move this to the sub forum for such things.

I thought you legally could stop on a yellow box area if turning right?
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

    thanks for the replies,

so they can send their paperwork in 28 days and then i have 14 days to respond, else the 60 pound fine becomes a 120 pound fine?

    no points correct?

this was a box in camden, not sure which council it is. i was just visiting.

hey neil, who is the board guide crabman i need to request, would it be possible to have his nickname

can you stop on a yellow boax area is turning right? i am not sure if it was allowed, it did not say no turn right but it had the blue sign with white (or black) arrow going straight ahead, i think that means one can only go straigh.

I might be reading it wrong, but if the lights had the blue arrow indicating ahead only, and someone illegally turning right blocked you in the box junction, by which time your exit was filled, I think you have a very good case.

yes, the person in front of me did turn right, but my indicator was indicating right as well. soon as the person behind me honked at me and the car n the front, i realised the mistake and moved on straight (after the guy in front had turned right).

when you say i have a good case, you mean to say i have to make my representation to the dvla? or would the person who makes the judgement make the judgement in my favor?

LOL. You're new to this aren't you!!

The penalty notice, if there is one, will come from the Council. Camden notices are legally invalid on wording although they are the only Borough that persists in defending all the way IME.

28 days to appeal beginning with the day you receive it. 14 days to pay at discount beginning with date of notice. 28 days to pay at full rate, beginning with date of notice << (No, that dichotomy of different start points is real!!!.)

One shot at appeal to Council with these. Final recourse to independent Adjudicator. I've got a Camden appeal in myself!!

Don't discount FlyingScot so easily. The rules, as I said are often misunderstood and misused by Councils. Whilst yes, technically in contravention, you were prevented from proceeding by the first car turning right in error.

You say Camden but where 'exactly'.

So Neil what you are saying is that speeding is 14 days (or anything sent out by the police?)

    BUT

Councils (and others?) have 28 days to send ticket out?

Was there even a camera on this box junction? did it flash?
