I added the Media CD to my order yesterday for a fiver.. and I got an email saying they had none in stock and my system would be shipped without it....price reduced accordingly.
I hope the option to burn your own is correct.
ps. pretty sure Dells dont ship with CD media unless requested.. (cost saving)0 -

Yep, it does. But before you wipe the disk (and even get rid of the "hidden" Dell recovery partition which also contains the data to burn this XP CD) don't forget to also download all necessary drivers so that things like your network card, wi-fi, etc can be set up after the XP install.0 -
Like some others I ordered when it was the 80Gb Drive.
Finally managed to get through to customer care this morning - my system has already been made and due to be delivered on Wednesday 12th.
Was really firm about wanting to cancel as it was a better spec, so they offered me a £50 discount on this order. Which I took.
Much better option as you can pick up a 160Gb from ebuyer for £53, or a 250Gb for £61, and keep the 80Gb as a backup device.0 -
Any ideas which graphics cards would be good with this system. The power supply is only 305W, most decent nvidia cards need 450w. I guess this is how they keep the cost down.0

Plenty of people have talked about having added a 6600gt to their (previously bought) 5150 so try that?0

I am gonna phone too, can anyone advise me what their customer service number is, was it 0870 906 0010?
Thanks, BTW will I be holding on for hours, is it always the case I'll end up in India?0 -
This number takes you to Dell's switchboard 01344 860456 where you can ask for their customer care. Geographical numbers are nearly always cheaper than 0870s and are free if you have a inclusive call plan (like me!)
I don't think its possible to avoid calls going throught to their indian call centres.
For more alternatives to 0870 checkout: http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php0 -
Thanks for the alternative number, gdh82
Fingers crossed I hope I can secure a similar discount to what Cab00se got. I am not too good at this type of thing. I'd prefer to get a discount as opposed to returning it. I assume that Dell's Customer Service is a 24hr operation, I got no chance to call them from work! My system is supposed to come between 5-9 tonight!
Any others who got the £399 deal trying for a discount?0 -
I need a DVD-RW drive too....0
