Zavvi sending out second hand goods!

When Zavvi relaunched me and the missus both got emails from them with attached £5 vouchers. So, I ordered a copy of Lego Batman for the xbox 360 with a fiver off and she ordered a copy of Beautiful Katamari with a fiver off. Anyhow, Zavvi stuffed up on her order and didn't take the fiver off and charged her full price so they sent her 2 x £5 vouchers which she then used to buy 2 copies of "The Darkness" for 360 to give out as gifts or sell on ebay. It then took about 2 months! for Zavvi to deliver my copy of lego batman which has been sitting about ever since with the 2 copies of "The Darkness" which did turn up quite quickly.

Anyhow, yesterday I decided to tidy up the house a bit so unwrapped the cellophane from the copy of lego batman to put it on the shelf with my other games, that's when I noticed that the Microsoft authenticity seal was missing! I then looked a bit more closely and the box has had stickers which have been badly removed and the case is scuffed and dirty. I then took a look at both of the still wrapped copies of The Darkness which if i look carefully I can see the boxes are again scratched and again the Microsoft authenticity seals are broken and on one copy part of the seal is missing! I've currently left both these copies sealed in case Trading Standards are interested.

I've since looked at the copy of Beautiful Katamari and the disc looks new (only played it once so far) but the box again is quite scuffed and marked which given it has only been sitting on the shelf with all my other games most of which are *pristine* makes me wonder about if that copy was new or not too but I'm sure I'd have noticed at the time if the security seal was missing so maybe the kids got at it one day.

So, what should I do about this? obviously I should go to trading standards but who else to complain to?

Personally I'm not too bothered about getting any money back or new copies myself as I think we've paid about £20 to get 4 games and I don't think it will be worth my while to pursue Zavvi as I don't really want anything out of them, but I will certainly not be buying anything from them in future.

I'm just more concerned people will be buying goods from them in future as new and not getting what they paid for! I'd be fuming right now if I'd handed these items out as gifts. I would advise anyone who is using Zavvi to check goods carefully when delivered in future as they are resealing products at the very least even if they were ex-display/old-stock but they are certainly not selling brand new retail sealed games! If I wanted to buy secondhand I'd use ebay!

  • A lot of shops do have the seal broken as they store the games in cardboard holders etc
It is esp like this in non game stores IMHO

Personally wouldnt worry about it as the disc was unscratched and you can buy spare cases cheap from Game
  • Sorry, no online shops that I know of do this and if that seal is broken it is no longer new. Certainly the case looks like it came out of a car boot sale, like I already said if it was a gift then it would not be acceptable.
