Failed cambelt - liability?

I need to have the cambelt on my Toyota replaced and I’m not sure whether to go to a Toyota dealership or the cheaper independent garage.

Does anyone know who is liable if a fairly recently replaced cambelt fails? I think there is a warranty on the part, but what about the garage who replaced it? It would probably be difficult to prove it was the part rather than the garage I would imagine.

Does is make a difference if the cambelt is replaced by Toyota or an independent garage?

Get whoever you want to fix the vehicle. As long as you also get them to source the parts required, then if it fails there will be no arguement over who is liable, the part supplier or the installer as they will be one and the same.
