Lost No Claims after beinf abroad for 3 years

Hi, have just recently returned to the UK after 3 years in the USA where I was posted by my company. Coming back have been looking at cars and insurance. Have been informed by my previous insurer (Norwich Union) that because I have been out of the country for 3 years that I have lost all my no claims (had full no claims when I left). Had no claims in the US (company car) and have a letter from the company stating this. Am struggling to find any insurance company that will accept that I have had no claims in the USA and previously in the UK. Having to start at zero no claims is a painful (in the wallet) prospect. Anybody know of any companies that will accept no claims fro aborad or honour no claims from 3 years back?

If you speak to a local broker they can probably find a company that will allow you some introductory no claims bonus providing you can obtain a satisfactory letter from your USA employer.0

NU (aviva) do accept 3 year "old" NCD. If you are within the 3 years, go back to them and try again.0
