Employment Support Allowance Question

Hi All,

I would be grateful if someone could help me out with an answer. My father was diagnosed with Cancer about 12 months ago and has not returned to work since. After 6 months off sick, he was on half pay, then got Employment Support Allowance. As of 30th June, he will have been retired medically by his employer and awarded a lump sum and pension.

His Employment Support Allowance is up until July 6th, can you advise if he would still be eligible to claim this, given that he has been retired medically ?

Regards
EnglishDesi

Yeah, he can still claim it, but the normal rules apply if he is on the income related part ie. any final/compensation payments will be treated as capital.
