Just got my credit report! AHH!

Hi guys
I just paid for a credit report with checkmyfile.com, doesn't show that much on there except the fact that I have one ccj (that I didn't know about) and 3 defaults (one of which I didn't no about and can't work out how I have it).
My friend told me it's best to get the statutory report from both equifax and experian, so have ordered these.
I am a 25 yr old single mum, studying in college and on benefits, I seperated from my sons father about 4 and a half years ago, and being very young and foolish we had catalogues store cards etc.
Since seperating from him, I didn't get any mail and moved around with my son for a while, therefore did not get any letters reguarding my defaults etc, so when I look at my online credit report with checkmyfile.com I hav'nt a clue who they are as they don't say a company name, and I don't know how to contact them to repay it!
I am renting at the moment and would really like to buy a house with my current partner (who has an amazing credit score) sometime next year, I am not going to be able to do this am I?
If I was to repay all the debts (providing I can find out who they are) would I be able to get the ccj and deafults removed?
They don't total that much.
One default is with capital one totalling £515 (mostly late fee's) but spent 3 months in hospital and just fell behind, have just received a letter from them, quite a nice one so I know I can sort this one out but what about the rest and how do I find out the ccj and default I have no idea who it is with?
If I was to put up the info I have on checkmyfile.com on here would someone be so kind to have a look at it for me and provide any solution, if there is one?
Thanks guys
Nikki x

  • not the answer your looking for but CCJ's and defaults will remain on your credit file for 6 years.
If you pay them they will be marked as satisfied on your file but wont be removed im afraid.
Unless they are in fact mistakes and dont belong to you.
It will be worth ordering your credit file from Experian and Equifax.
The £2 paper copies should give you enough information so you can track down these accounts and get things sorted/corrected.

    https://www.experian.co.uk

    https://www.equifax.co.uk

    Good luck :)
    Debt at highest £16k+
    Debt at lightbulb moment £14,800
    Current debt £6336
Cleared £4206 in November 05 How ? Bye Bye PPI :)
  • With the CCJ contact Northampton court and give them the reference number and they will then be able to tell you what company registered the CCJ against your name.
  • Hi Nikki,

What I am about to say may seem a bit overwhelming, but sit down tonight with a cup of tea and read all of this ... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=158155

You will be able to reclaim all those charges from the credit cards, so this will reduce any debt you have to pay. Good ey?

Keep calm. Remember you can only do one thing at a time. You WILL get through this,

Thankyou guys, it's nice to know that I'm not alone! I have already ordered the paper copies of my credit report from both experian and equifax should be here tomorrow, fingers crossed I can get things cleared asap.
Old iron balls do you know if it will still badly affect my credit or buying a mortgage even if the ccj and defaults are satisfied?
    Thanks to you all

Also is there a letter on that site to send to credit card companies? As it's all about overdrafts and direct debit and says it's unlawful at common law, when I don't even know if this applies to credit cards

Ha ha oh yes such a joyful weekend ahead!
Trouble is I think i have actually thrown out the letter from capital one stating my actual balance and how much all the charges totalled to, don't shout at me, I'm a very busy girl and if theres mess in my house it goes in the bin.
Dya think capital one will be ok if I gave them a ring to find out how much the charges total to? Or will they cotton on to what I am intending to do?
I have letters from the debt collectors but they just state they debt of £515
