It's not as if the true intent of the numerous other threads went unnoticed, but thanks for the clarification. ;)

I have to say none of my previous posts have been aimed at drumming up female company.

In fact the 2 Threads i have started on my...... 10 week, 36,000 mile, 16 country holiday have been created purely for advice. :D

The fact is i could have started many more threads on the issue, one in particular being whether it is worth climbing the Yellow Mountains in Huangshan China due to the unpredictability of the weather, Is it really worth seeing the Terracotta Warriors in Xi an when it adds £100 to my budget or whether i should bother with Koh Samui in Thailand, Whether 2 days in Singapore is enough, whether a day in Kota Kinabalu is worth 2 in Sandakan - Should i stay on the islands or inland? Do i Amtrak to Buffalo via Chicago or drive from LA to NYC?

    ;)

IMHO one day in Singapore is enough, a) because IMHO it's nowt more than a well groomed concrete Jungle and b) the decline in the £GBP has meant that prices in general are a 50% premium on two years ago. For a central hotel on a budget, try the Royal Plaza on Scotts..... I believe it's owned by the Sultan of Brunei but don't quote me.

IMHO you need only spend enouh time in KK to climb KK, not a minute more.
If you are going to Sandakan, have you considered Miri and a day trip to Niah Caves to follow in the footsteps of David Attenborough? :)

    Thank you.

I will certainly look into your suggestions. In terms of Malaysia/Borneo/Singapore Lonely Planet and Rough guide certainly leave a lot to be desired.
