Watch the excess it will be at least £500-00.

I assumed it would be, I'm swapping my insurance over straight away but for the OP it may have been better than nothing.
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!

What allegation? And even if she turns out not to be insured are you really suggesting that they are required to report that fact to the police?

That's the requirement in law, however it matters not now as 24 hours is up.

    That's the requirement in law..........

    It’s not….

is clear, a no injury accident where the drivers stop and exchange details (as I assume the OP & wife did) there is no requirement to report it to the police.

Interesting to note that even if some one is injured there is still no requirement to report providing you both produce your insurance certificates to the other driver at the scene.

Ask yourself this question, next time your out in your car and you were rear ended by an uninsured driver what would you want/expect the police to do about it?

Based on when this happened to us in late 2008

want: them to do something about it
expect: them to do naff all about it, despite having details of the driver and being presented with evidence that the insurance certificate they had was invalid.
