HTTPS but no Padlock!

Firstly, I know that if a URL begins HTTPS and displays a small padlock icon in the bottom right of the screen, a page is secure and any data transmitted to/from the page will also be secure.
However, what happens if the URL begins HTTPS but has no padlock icon displayed? I've never come across this before, so I'm wary of providing my credit card details in case it's not secure.
So, if a page is an HTTPS one but has no padlock icon, is it secure or not?
Cheers!

what's the page? It could be down to page construct.
it could also be a http page that only submits data over https - some button-operated pages do this. If you look at http://my.yahoo.com, they employ this manner.
The padlock is a good way IMO to reassure customers - so that you get questions like this one.In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?0 -
As long as it is HTTPS you are secure - it does not matter about the padlock. To infinity and beyond!0
