getting a bag of rice and preparing it yourself - you will also avoid any unnecessary nasties that way toobargain shopping is the only way to shop :j0

I buy tescos own in 500g and 1Kg bags (blue). Its just the same and mega cheap.
A little tip, when youve boiled your rice, sieve it then poor boiling water over it to remove any excess starch and gooeyness HTH0 -

hi thanks
i cook it in coconut milk and kidney beans with the juice so you cant rinse it which is the problem really as only found uncle bens stays unsticky(i rinse it first btw)
its stupidly priced though..***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
Try rinsing it loads and loads in cold water BEFORE cooking, this gets rid of a lot of the starchI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Try buying a rice cooker mine was £9.99 from Argos, perfect rice every time, no strirring, no standing over it.0

I always buy 'easy cook' rice, my friend told me that this type doesn't go sticky, and since I have started buying it I have had no problems :TDD1 - May 02 8lbs 6oz
DD2 - June 05 10lbs 6oz

I didn't like Asda own-brand rice when I tried it, but I do like the Natco brand basmati that you can get in the 'world foods' sections or the big supermarkets, and in ethnic shops. I've found that it cooks really well and doesn't go mushy.0

I have found the best way to cook rice is to rinse it well in cold water, just cover it with boiling water from the kettle, bring the water back to the boil on the stove, put the lid on the saucepan and take it off the heat. The rice cooks in its own steam and absorbs the water. Provided you don't lift the lid till its done you get perfect rice every time.I'm a retired employment solicitor.
