Advice required

Hi all.

I am about to get a workstation that has the following spec:

dual Intel E5460 64-bit quad-core processors running at 3.16GHz

8GB of 667MHz DDR-2 memory

Nvidia Quadro FX 4600 graphics card.

300GB SATA2 main system hard drive with a 10,000rpm platter rotation speed

500GB data storage drive with a 7,200rpm platter.

Now I have no real need for something this powerful, so I was wondering what the best way of realising the best resale value from it.

All opinions / advice appreciated.

I wouldn't consider resale value in any PC purchase - the price of components as time goes on means you'll never get a fraction of the price back.

I'm not actually paying for it.;) I was just wondering whether it was best to sell it as a unit or sell it off in bits.

And before you ask, yes it's all legit!!

If you're concerned about resale value and you want something that powerful, buy a Mac Pro.

Aside from that, you're at the mercy of the market.

Sorry, just want to clarify the situation I'm in:

I've won the above workstation, and wish to know what the best way of selling it would be.

If you don't consider that Ebay are a bunch of crooks and shysters, then you might try to sell it there?

Thats a pretty awesome spec. Is it a branded model?

As a unit, or in bits, depends on the market at the time of sale. A search on eBay will give you a good guide. Unbranded units aren't worth half as much as a branded system.

Parts are always worth roughly the same, but if they aren't boxed, you'll get bottom dollar value.

If you are looking to sell now, sell as a unit as it's a powerful spec.
