Car Tax rise. How much for a 1.6 Toyota?

Our Toyota Corolla 1.6 was due for tax renewal 1 April. The reminder letter sent by DVLA said £165 (as last year). When paying it the postmaster said it had risen to £190.

I know there was an increase in the Budget but surely a 1.6 car tax did not rise by £25 to £190.

Can anyone clarify this?

Go to your registration book and check section 4--down too v7 co2(g/km) and that will tell you the band your in but looks like it is right because just checked out sisters car and that has jumped from £165 too £190

I just miss out, have a year 2000 Suzuki Swift will pay £110 as last year, tho talking to a Yaris Igo owner just now she is down to £75, (similiar size to mine.) I suppose the trend from now will be smaller engines or even tricycles like the Robin Reliant.
And with free bus travel for OAP's I can see a lot less vehicles on the road.
