£5 is only just over a gallon of petrol. That's only 30 miles for me. :(

    1 Imperial Gallon (UK) = 4.54609188 litres

    30mpg would be heaven :o

OP - it's possible you were very low, so the 5l only took you just out of the light on zone, meaning as you did a few miles it came back on. Fill the tank, reset the trip and drive it, then refill it and work out your mpg

I think a fiver would normally give us 35 - 40 miles and we defininitely didn't do more than 10 the other day.

However i will definitely go and get the brakes looked at, they don't feel any less efficient it's just the scraping noise so hopefully it's just sticky pads and haven't worn too much. I had that problem with my Escort and it was cheap to fix.

The longer you leave them scraping the more likely you will need to replace both the pads and discs. If it just started you may get away with doing just the pads but if you have been running around like that for a while then your discs will be scored and that will be more expense.

Yeah it's only just started and it doesn't do it everytime, probably about 1 in 5 times i use the brakes. :( Blimming cars!

You should never put fuel in by the £'s. You should fill up by the litres. It's much easier and by using the same figure each week, you know that your car is running fine.

Where as ten quid one week might work out to be less the following month etc...
