I hope someone out there can please help me.
We have 2 computers and one of them is now not working. I have transferred the hard disk from the old computer to the new computer to act as a slave. I need to recover my emails from thst disk, does anyone know how to do it? When I open outlook express in the old disk I cannot find my old email addresses and folders.
Thank you in anticipation

Make sure show hidden files is enabled under Windows Explorer under Tools->Folder Options->Views->Show Hidden Files and Folders
The DBX files that Outlook Express uses are located in:
C:/Documents and Settings/{Username}/Local Settings/Application Datas/Identities/GUID Identifier (random string like {3B0FA092-2222-1111-A1B2-111A1AA1AAA11}Microsoft/Outlook
I Put C: - As Standard , But It Will be a different Letter for You
They Should be all stored in there.
copy the folder GUID Idenifier. Then paste it to the same place on the new one.Peter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. Peter: And this one? Lois: Born. Peter: And this one? Lois: In.
Peter: And this one? Lois: Montana. Peter: Ah... oh, hey Lois did you know Evil Knievel was born in Montana? Family Guy - I Take Thee, Quagmire 04x210 -

You now know where the emails are on the old disk.
Open outlook express as normal and click on File/Import/Messages then choose the version of IE on the old disk. After that I think it depends which version you selected but should be straight forward. Once you point it to the old folder they should arrive in OE.0 -

Thanks guys,
I can find the files and the folder from the newly installed drive (slave) but where do I paste them after I have copied themin the master drive?
I can't find the GUID indentifier despite doing a search, there seems to be no such folder.
Thank you

Once you got those files.
Doesn't Matter where the files are (well shouldn't lol)
Open OE.
2. Go to File->Import->Messages.
3. Select Microsoft OE 6 from the available list of options.
4. Select the option to import mail from an OE 6 store.
5. Browse to the folder which contains the .dbx files.
6. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete
I Think thats the right way , I havent got OE anymore so i had to do a quick lookup. Hope this helpsPeter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. Peter: And this one? Lois: Born. Peter: And this one? Lois: In.
