Do you need to inform building control if you need to damp proof your house? I read something about it but I think I must be getting confused a bit may be you have to in a new house. Thanks

Only if the damp proofing involves structural work that comes under the remit of building control. What sort of DP method are you using?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
