finding a trustworthy tradesman?

i live in birmingham how do i find a tradesman who is trustworthy? im worried about calling those that advertise in places like yelow pages / internet

i have a problem in my bathroom everytime the toilet is flushed theres a vibration / loud noise from the pipes over the last gew weeks it seems to be getting louder and louder my negihbour downstairs is starting to moan about the noise im not good at diy so no idea how to resolve it.

i was going to take a policy out with homeserve but there's a 28 day no claim period.

www.mybuilder.com is great its where i found builders recently.
People leave feedback so you know if they are good and also ask if you can see other work they had completed
I got to see a garage conversion they had just done & now they start mine in 2 weeks
