Icome Protection (Mortgage) Insurance

Hi
I have been unemployed since November 2008 and currently claim no JSA because my wife works.
I have an income protection policy in place and this has been paying since Dec/Jan (because they take ages to sort themselves out!) and since then...
Situation was that I sent in an ABI1 form with job search proof etc and they take 5 days to process then upto 14 days to make payment - this was ok because it covered the bills and the mortgage.
NOW... today I receive me confirmation for this month's claim in the post - it now takes two weeks to look at the paperwork and now the letter says we will make a payment within 21 days!!!! - So 5 weeks to sort a month's payment...
No letter or call from them to say "Hey we have changed the terms"... nothing... just now they decide to sort a claim with 2 weeks to process and 21 days to pay - Now from exoerience with them they alway pay on the last possible date - which was ok when it was 14 days but now 21 days?!!!
This means that my mortgage in July and all the bills due out on 1st month will all bounce in my account because they have until approx 3rd July to make payment which I am sure it will be the last possible day they can
The company is CONNECT Mi LIMITED in London
Anyone else had this issue - any ideas how I can tackle these bills that will bounce???

On top of all this my Payplan payment of all token £1 payments to creditors will also not be paid if they pay me late on the insurance

Any comments???? Its now 1st July - mortgage DD has been stopped so Im not charged - Halifax were fine as long as they receive payment during July at any date.
Car payment company Fiat Finance are w*****s..... would not move the payment date unless I paid £25 (Could not as no money as insurance not been paid) and also said if I stop DD they will charge £26 for late payment!!!! - You just cant reason with these people.... explained I have no money at all until my payment is made which is any time up until 10th July but they wont listen.
Cue lose my temper and tell them to come and re-possess the car!!0 -
Have you put in an official complain to the insurer? Put it in writing. Mark it "official complaint" at the top. Be very clear about the issues you are having, the problems those issues have caused you and what you want them to do about it. Send a copy to their finance director and chief executive.
The chances are that they have a huge backlog, with more people making claims at this time of recession, however, if they have processed the paperwork and approved the payment, I don't understand why it takes more time to make that payment?!
WRT the car, - do you really need it? I say this purely to be devils advocate, but given you have Fiat Finance on it, I assume it is fairly new; can you afford to be running a nearly new car with no job?
Have you contacted a debt adivce charity? I have had a couple of friends who have found them extreamly helpful, though I don't know which ones they used.0
