Worn brake pads on used car from a dealer

I dont think you have a chance on this. Who is to say or prove the condition of the brakes when the car was sold to you? On his side, the dealer has an MoT which says that the brakes performed to the required standard which would imply that they were in good enough condition to perform their essential function. And you have some heresay opinion from the dealer who fitted new brakes. I wouldnt fancy your chances.
Did the car have any kind of Rac/AA inspection report on it at point of sale or was it just a straight sale?0 -
I think you should have gone back to the dealer first before changing them all to the cost of £300.0

Firstly, did the OP question why they "had to replace all discs and pads" - they wont do with with out your say so, so I'm assuming you did.
also, why 6 months down the road are you hoping that the dealer will pay up for something which has worn out? When the car left their garage the brakes may have been perfect, it may just be your driving style that bollox'd them up!
I bought a hoover from Tesco a week ago, I've had to replace the bag this week - should I go back and demand my money back for the bag?
You say you don't have £300 to spare, which not many people do these days, buy why did you take the car to nissan for the service?
I'm just looking at this from a motor trader's point of view...
One other thing to add: If a few days have passed and you go back to ask for the duff brakes, they could keep a really knackered set under the counter incase someone cross questions them...0 -
Mug for letting Nissan dealer do the work.
I got my 06 Clio pads/discs changed on Friday for MOT at an idependent for £145.
Nissan quoted me £870 for front/rear pads and front discs on my 350Z. I can buy better quality parts and get them fitted elsewhere all for about £450.0
