I lost my booklet for a pc game (gta4) so I lost my serial key. I still have the game installed and searched to find that I can get my key using regedit. By doing:
HK_current_user_software_rockstargames_grandtheftautoIV
But when I tried to do this the folder rockstargames was not there?
"1) Click Start
2) Click Run / Vista users simply need to type into the "Search" box
3) Type: regedit
4) Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
5) Scroll down and locate "SOFTWARE" then expand it
6) Scroll down and locate "Rockstar Games" then expand it
7) Click on "Grand Theft Auto IV"
8) Locate your key in the right quadrant"
I am supposed to find this at the end apparantly:

Have you used this software...ie run it before on your computer ?0

Try under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE instead, that's where my GTA SA has it's reg keys.
They're not folders by the way.
Don't mess with your system registry, it auto saves everything you do, each time you close it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

It tried Belarc, it was quite interesting but unfortunatly didn't bring up the key.0

I suspect it's either been moved, hidden or encrypted as a copyright measure.
Was it originally installed on your user account?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I installed it on the admin account which is the one I am using now. I don't know why I can't find it if other people have?0
