Clothing collection from W & W Help Ltd

I found a printed note in my letterbox recently.
It asks for unwanted clothe, blankets, sheets, shoes, handbags etc.
I had a good look at the leaflet and it didn't look quite right

"Our company provides jobs in the sorting of clothes for distribution. It provides business for the UK export and transport companies. It provides employment for the UK factories grading the clothes and people collecting the bags door to door."

There's no proper contact information apart from helpline1000@yahoo.co.uk

I did a quick google search and found this:

My unwanted clothes and bric-a-brac go to the charity shop of my choice.

Leaflets and bags from anywhere else requesting unwanted stuff go into my bin.

I hope your posting makes people think twice about 'donating' in this way. ;)

I have just come back from a trip to Budapest, where I noticed that there are several shops selling second-hand clothes from the UK. I wonder if those clothes originate from these bogus charity street collections ?
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Just got one of these leaflets handed to me on the street (North Glasgow) as i was standing in my garden, almost instantly i noticed no contact details, spelling mistakes which is a good indicator of dodgy collectors, only thing on it is a company registration number: 06296698 which makes a change as the last scam from Eastern Europe got caught as they didn't have one, needless to say they have now changed tactics and checked their spelling and add a made up com reg no!!

As the link suggests they are collecting illegally - makes me so angry
they have a picture of a little African baby on the front.

Am off to print my own leaflet and post to everyone on the street to let them know.

We often have similar leaflets through the door. When I've spotted that neighbours have left stuff out for them, I knock on the door and tell them about the "charity". They either take the bags in (maybe because they think I'm nutty and want to get rid of me?) or, as a couple have done, give me the bags which I offer to take to a charity shop.

total scam...going rate is £600 a tonne for clothes, so not a bad earner [since they pay no tax or NI whatsoever].

We get dozens of these flipping bags for various dubious looking "charities" (often with no charity reg number or even charity name in one case) and they all go straight for bin liner purposes. Considering we've got like 6 charity shops 2 mins down the road (yes I know it's some people's idea of heaven) I'm surprised they even bother trying it on but people do fall for it though.cos I've seen the bags left outside houses.
