a weekend of painting plastered ceilings for me! tips for new plaster.

Hi well we are nearly in our own home, popped past our house today and the builders were cleaning up, they have plastered 12 ceilings and closed some doorways and alos opened up a wall so lots of plaster to paint.

From what the builder said i should water the paint down for the first coat so the plaster absorbs that rather that the paint straight on. Big task and dont think i'll get them all done on my own:eek:

we are due to move in on tuesday and i have monday off work aswell.

Take your time! The finish is important.

And make sure that first coat is heavily watered.

    Congrats :D

How long have you left the plaster to dry out before painting? Sounds like you may be jumping the gun?

ceilings were skimmed last week (just over some artex that was on there) all dry from what i can see, the plaster cant be anymore than a few mm thick.

make sure you give plaster a thinned coat of emulsion b4 u give it a thicker coat , use water , approx 1 part water to 4-5 parts paint

With a good quality paint i would be adding more water

We generally do a 50/50 mix when using dulux trade paints and give 2 mist coats rather than a 1
