where to buy tips for universal laptop power charger

I tried maplins but they didn't have the individual tip which would fit my laptop (acer aspire 5520) so I had to buy a whole new power lead for £60!!!!!!!!!!!! Just for a bit of plastic at the end. OH urgently needed the computer that day for work so I had no choice but to fork out.

I am keen to avert this tragedy striking again by buying in the right tip for my laptop but having looked about on the net I'm very confused about what is even the right name for this tip and whether such small parts can even be bought on their own.

If anyone can tell me what I should be buying and where I can buy it I would be very happy!

If you live near a maplin store, they will sort you out.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Thanks for the advice - had a look at the ebay listings but still don't see one for the acer aspire 5520.

    The search continues!

Thanks, I could do, but basically the problem appears to be that the bit that goes into the laptop from the power lead is constantly getting bent, just from the slightest movement, no matter how careful I am. So this then messes up the whole psu. Replacing it at a tenner a time would prove costly, which is why I want to just buy a few of the pins that fit on the end of a universal adapter, as it is just the pin that gets bent and then the battery won't charge.

They must sell them somewhere - the link with the psu you gave shows the exact pin I need. Aaargh! Why can't they just sell it separately?!!

How old is the laptop as this sounds like it is a design fault, take it up with Acer. Its worth a try.
