I have been checking out costs for home reports in Scotland and other parts of uk .(these are a must have, before selling a property).
I am shocked at the fees charged =£350-£525 (in scotland) for a property valued at 75k pounds, add to this charge, the VAT.
Anyone know if there is a ceiling price for this government MUST HAVE..,why not have one price for all uk home reports ?
thanks.

There's no UK standard price for the same reason that there's no standard price for a car, or a tin of beans, or anything else.
Cheapest I've come across thru EAs and High-Street Surveyors is £300+VAT for sub-£100k houses, stepping up at each £100k breakpoint. there may be other, possibly 'online'' choices but I haven't looked at any of these.0
